Workshops and Courses Offered
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCEIn this workshop, students practice Python programming with challenge exercises and become familiarized with machine learning and its applications. Students then learn how to use machine learning libraries such as scipy and numpy, applying them to tasks in fields such as bioinformatics and natural language processing.
ALGORITHMIC BIASIn this workshop, students learn about how algorithmic bias in AI is caused by the diversity crisis in technology and are given examples of real-world AI technologies malfunctioning due to biased datasets. Students are taught how they can help reduce bias in the AI algorithms of the future.
PYTHONStudents learn the syntax of the versatile programming language Python. They learn how to write functions to solve real-world word problems before understanding how Python is used in machine learning to efficiently carry out complex operations.
JAVA PROGRAMMINGStudents learn the syntax of the versatile programming language Python. They learn how to write functions to solve real-world word problems before understanding how Python is used in machine learning to efficiently carry out complex operations.
WEB DESIGNThis workshop teaches students the fundamentals of coding in HTML and CSS, specifically how to create and design interactive web applications. Students then build their own websites from scratch and present a live demonstration.
APP DEVELOPMENTIn this workshop students identify a problem in their community and address it by creating a mobile app using MIT App Inventor which will be presented to a panel of judges. The goal of the workshop is to inspire students to build technology that can have an impact.
FLL ROBOTICSStudents learn how to use LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 kits to build and program their own LEGO robots. We created this workshop to develop the skills needed to be successful in a FIRST Lego League competition.
3D DESIGNThis workshop introduces students to constructive solid geometry and teaches them how to create models for 3D printing. Students design their own projects using CAD (Computer Aided Design) and then use a 3D printer to print out a prototype.
ELECTRONICSIn this workshop students learn about basic electronics and problem solving through toy adaptation. We provide all the materials needed during this workshop.
